We have been so incredibly busy this past month! I have a feeling we will be going full speed until after Christmas! I am SO proud of how well the kids are progressing! They are working very hard and their efforts show! My class had 100% of students make an 80 - 100 on BOTH the reading and math post test! By the way, making an 80-100 on the post test qualifies as "EXCEEDS content standards". WAY TO GO!!! For doing so well, they were all rewarded with a dance party given by Ms. Bell, our technology coordinator. I also have to brag that our class had one of the top 2 spots in AR points for the ENTIRE SCHOOL! Keep up the reading at home! I have also posted some pictures from some community helpers that came to visit the 1st Grade. The Wetumpka Fire Dept. and the K9 Police Unit came and shared some pretty cool things with the kids. The kids LOVED seeing the K9 dog "get the bad guy". Drug Free week was a lot of fun as well. And I almost forgot Halloween! I told you we have been super busy! Anyways, there are a lot of pictures to post, so I should keep this short! I hope everybody has a WONDERFUL Thanksgiving Break! I am thankful for each of my little "turkeys" and thankful for all the work you all are putting in at home! =)

Playing Catch-Up!
I'm sorry for not posting last week! My family and I took a much needed vacation to Gatlinburg, TN. Having a 1 1/2 year old, I can not say it was a "relaxing vacation", but it was a vacation nonetheless. =)
Now on to classroom happenings! We have been super busy the past few weeks. We've been preparing for our end of the 9 weeks Post Tests, doing Pumpkin Investigations, hearing from an Alabama State Trooper on safety, and checking out some of the nocturnal animals that make the Montgomery Zoo their home! It has been a whirlwind of a couple of weeks! Below are some of the pictures from the Pumpkin Investigations and the zoo visit. Enjoy your weekends and prepare for a fresh start as the new 9 weeks grading period begins Monday!

And a very special thank you to Nichole Holt (also known as Mya's mom) for bringing beautiful flowers and cupcakes for my birthday!

A Busy Week!
Apologies for not getting this blog up within the week! Sometimes my days just start to run together! Last week was another great week in our class! We reached a special goal in AR (Accelerated Reader) on Friday! We made it to 100 (110 actually) AR points as a class! For a special surprise I had a special "100" treat on the students desks when they arrived on Friday. I also made a special banner for the entire hall to see that we had reached this goal! Keep reading with your child every night, and the progress they make will astonish you! We also did a very special RAK of providing breakfast for our sweet lunchroom staff. They were very thankful and LOVED the RAK idea! We also "Pinked Out" for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I've posted pictures from the week. Now, I must go a clean pumpkin seeds from our pumpkin investigations today. Have a great week!

This week we've been celebrating Johnny Appleseed's birthday! We've graphed our favorite apples (yellow, green, and red), we tasted all kinds of apple products, and we even made Apple Muffins! Johnny Appleseed himself also made an appearance to celebrate his birthday with us! It was a fun week for all!
